Aptos Labs and PayPal have announced a technical integration to support PayPal’s PYUSD stablecoin and deliver instant cross-chain settlement, increased liquidity, and on-chain payment utility for global merchants and users. The network confirmed through a post on X that it is the move-chain launch partner for PayPal’s PYUSD.
This move positions PYUSD as part of a broader $1.2 billion stablecoin ecosystem, enhancing liquidity and accessibility across multiple blockchain networks. PYUSD, now live across multiple blockchain networks including Ethereum and Solana, will leverage Aptos’s scalable Layer 1 infrastructure to offer near-zero-cost, programmable settlements and high throughput.
The integration enables thousands of decentralized apps (DApps) and payment service providers to seamlessly accept PYUSD, removing friction, reducing transaction costs, and supporting mass adoption.
The launch is structured around a burn-and-mint mechanism, enabling fast and secure transfers of PYUSD between Ethereum and Aptos without reliance on third-party bridges or centralized exchanges.
Aptos’s blockchain delivers sub-second finality and can process more than 150,000 transactions per second, a scalable feature aligning with PayPal’s ambitions to boost mainstream adoption through scalable, programmable settlement.
PayPal has integrated PYUSD for bill payments, payroll, and batch disbursement for over 20 million merchants, creating stablecoin utility for contractors, freelancers, and international businesses.
With robust cross-chain compatibility (Ethereum, Solana, Aptos, Stellar), PYUSD offers global users flexibility, security, and regulatory compliance. Real-time tracking and transparent blockchain settlement anchor payments in trust, with expanded support for DApps, exchanges, and institutional clients.
PayPal’s integration with Aptos also offers compliance-grade digital finance for merchants by enabling settlement of over 100 cryptocurrencies via Pay with Crypto and cross-border PYUSD disbursement. Users can access PYUSD via PayPal, Venmo, and dozens of integrated wallets and gateways to streamline payroll, remittance, and daily spending.
Aptos Labs and PayPal plan to roll out further integrations beyond payments, including programmable finance, micro-lending, and RWA tokenization.
Industry analysts expect PYUSD to expand into new markets, including Africa and Latin America, leveraging Aptos’s zero-fee, scalable platform to reach millions of new users.
