Aiken Electric Cooperative’s youth opportunities application deadline is approaching.
Aiken Electric is continuing its commitment to community by offering all-expense-paid trips to the nation’s and state capitals for sophomores and juniors through the Washington Youth Tour and Cooperative Youth Summit. It also is offering scholarships to graduating high school seniors.
Both initiatives offer life-changing opportunities for students in communities served by Aiken Electric.
Sophomores and juniors have a chance to apply for these once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Juniors have the chance to visit Washington, D.C., for the Washington Youth Tour, and sophomores have the chance to visit Columbia, through the Cooperative Youth Summit. Students will learn firsthand how government works and develop tools to build their leadership skills. For both experiences, the student’s primary residence must be served by Aiken Electric. Applicants must demonstrate good character by submitting at least two letters of reference. Both experiences are a week-long, at no cost to the student or their family.
The cooperative will award one $2,000 Trustee Scholarship, personally funded by the cooperative’s board of trustees, to one deserving student whose primary residence is served by Aiken Electric. The cooperative will also award one $1,000 Touchstone Energy Scholarship to a student attending a four-year institution, and one $1,000 Touchstone Energy Scholarship to a student attending a two-year institution.
For all scholarships, student’s primary residence must be served by Aiken Electric. Applicants must demonstrate good character by submitting at least two letters of reference and a copy of their transcript.
