APC Slams Atiku Over Revolution Remark – TV360 Nigeria

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, over his recent comments on the state of the nation, describing them as reckless, irresponsible, and unbecoming of a statesman.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the APC said Atiku’s remarks of September 15, 2025, in which he raised alarm over hunger and insecurity and compared Nigeria’s situation to pre-revolutionary France, Russia, and the Arab Spring, amounted to a tacit call for insurrection.

According to the ruling party, Atiku’s statement was “a new low in a streak of incendiary commentaries” and an attempt to undermine the reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The APC accused Atiku and the PDP of failing to address hunger, poverty, and insecurity during their 16 years in power, despite record oil revenues. Instead, the party alleged, they “democratized hunger and poverty, plundered the treasury, and enthroned corruption and profligacy as state policy,” leaving behind the very problems Tinubu’s government is now tackling.

The statement further recalled allegations of mismanagement under Atiku’s tenure as Vice President, particularly the controversial $16 billion power sector funds. The APC argued that Atiku lacked solutions to Nigeria’s economic challenges when in office, and still does as a “forever-presidential aspirant.”

“Atiku is blinded by desperation, tormented by President Tinubu’s impressive strides, and disoriented by a political future that has faded away,” the APC declared. “His disturbing statement was made on a day when economic indicators, including inflation, showed consistent improvement a clear sign he is out of touch with the current realities.”

The party maintained that while opposition leaders have the right to critique government policies, incitement to violence cannot be justified under the guise of democratic freedoms. “Instigating anarchy is wrong, irresponsible, unpatriotic, and unacceptable,” it said.

Calling on Nigerians to disregard Atiku’s comments, the APC urged the public to stand firm behind the Tinubu administration as it pursues its Renewed Hope agenda aimed at economic growth and national prosperity.

“Atiku hardly resides in Nigeria and will not share in the destruction that a revolution would bring,” the party warned. “His ambition must not be allowed to endanger the peace, unity, and progress of our country.”

The ruling party concluded by affirming its confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, stating that his reforms were already stabilizing the economy and laying the groundwork for sustained prosperity.
