Two Irish sustainability consultancies, Antaris and Pragmatica, have announced a strategic merger aimed at strengthening sustainability, education and ISO support for small and medium-sized enterprises across Ireland.
Under the deal, Pragmatica will operate under the Antaris umbrella, consolidating more than 30 years of combined experience in sustainability strategy, ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) and ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) standards and certifications.
The merger brings together over 45 related services into a single independent consultancy serving Irish and international businesses.
Pragmatica, which has operations in Cork, Dublin and Kildare, joins Limerick-based Antaris.
Antaris employs 18 staff, and the combined entity positions itself as a national agency with international reach.
The expanded team aims to offer a more holistic approach to sustainability strategy, certifications and training programmes.
This includes support for B Corp, EcoVadis and a full range of ISO standards.
The merger comes at a time when Irish businesses are facing increasing pressure from evolving global regulations, alongside broader geopolitical and economic uncertainty.
According to the companies, the integration creates a “one-stop shop” to help organisations better understand and respond to regulatory changes, including ESG reporting requirements, ISO standards and wider sustainability compliance obligations.
Eugine Cush, CEO of Antaris Consulting Ireland, described the move as a positive step for businesses operating in a more complex environment.
He said sustainability, regulation and risk management are now closely linked, and that bringing Pragmatica into the group strengthens its ability to provide practical, expert-led solutions.
Gillian Peters, CEO of Pragmatica, said the merger will allow the firm to scale its advisory services and continue embedding sustainability in ways that are realistic, compliant and commercially sound.
She added that the combined organisation can help businesses not only keep pace with regulation and supply chain pressures, but also use sustainability as a strategic advantage.
The role of accountants is evolving, according to Aine Collins, CFO of Antaris, as sustainability and non-financial reporting become central to corporate value, adding that robust systems and technical rigour are increasingly essential.
