Animoca Brands, a leader in digital property rights and blockchain technology, has announced a strategic investment in Cool Cats Group, the renowned NFT collection. This move, reported by Animoca Brands, signifies an expansion of its influence in the NFT space by acquiring a majority stake in the company.
Cool Cats, a collection of 9,999 NFTs, is based on the character “Blue Cat,” created by artist Colin Egan. The collection has become one of the most recognized in the NFT market, with a trading volume exceeding $410 million, ranking it 19th in all-time NFT trading volumes according to CryptoSlam.
The NFT market has seen substantial growth, with a global market capitalization reaching approximately $7 billion as of April 2025, as per CoinGecko. Monthly sales volumes are around $600 million, indicating a vibrant market environment for digital assets like Cool Cats.
Following this investment, Animoca Brands plans to integrate Cool Cats with its Mocaverse and Moca Network projects. This integration aims to create synergies between the Eastern-origin Mocaverse and the Western-origin Cool Cats, enhancing community engagement and expanding market opportunities. Yat Siu, co-founder of Animoca Brands, and Kenneth Shek, project lead of Mocaverse, will join Cool Cats’ board to drive these initiatives.
The collaboration will focus on leveraging Moca Network’s decentralized identity infrastructure to enhance Cool Cats’ ecosystem. The partnership will also explore interoperability opportunities, broadening the reach and appeal of Cool Cats in global markets.
