As Christmas is marked the world over today, the Bishop of Ogbaru Diocese, Anglican Communion, the Right Reverend Prosper Amah has cautioned Christians against engaging in acts capable of debasing the true meaning of Christmas.
In a Christmas message delivered at the Bishop’s Court Atani, Right Reverend Amah regretted that many people are engaging in activities which are not in tandem with Christmas and called for an attitudinal change.
Bishop Amah, while expressing disgust over the high rate of uncertainty in Nigeria, which he blamed on poor government policies, urged the government at different levels to synergize and find a lasting solution to the security challenges facing the country.
The Anglican prelate made a strong case for the patronage of made-in-Nigeria products to strengthen the economy.
“The federal government should create a more enabling environment for the growth of indigenous firms by ensuring adequate power supply in addition to harmonizing the tax policy of the country to avoid chasing out investors from the country,” he said.
Amah further urged Nigerians to always see themselves as one, calling for total respect for the sanctity of human life.
In his own message, the Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, the Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor called on the Federal Government to focus more on those programmes and projects that will have a direct bearing on the masses.
Ezeofor regretted the hardships Nigerians are passing through, which he blamed on poor economic policies and called for measures to address such.
Right Reverend Ezeofor, who doubles as the National Chairman of the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion, EFAC-Nigeria, expressed worry over the high level of kidnappings and banditry in the country as a result of insecurity.
He advocated the introduction of strategic measures to improve the security network of the country to restore the hope of the people in the Nigerian project.
Speaking on the significance of Christmas, Bishop Ezeofor urged affluent individuals to always remember the downtrodden in their celebrations and beyond, stressing the need for the people to always engage in those activities that will promote peaceful coexistence.
The Message which was endorsed by the Diocesan Director of Media and Communications, Mr Abuchi Nwozor, further urged Nigerians to always anchor their faith and believe in God despite the challenges confronting the Nigerian nation, reminding them that every problem has an expiry date.
He wished Nigerians a remarkable Christmas and prosperous 2026.
