This half term holiday, why not explore these lovely destinations – if the weather is co-operating – and find yourself a quaint little pub too?

After all, an invigorating walk on a crisp winter’s day can be one of the most beneficial activities you can do to pass the time until spring arrives. We’ve put together a list of scenic routes for an pub walk in North Wales. Ensure our latest news and sport headlines always appear at the top of your Google Search by making us a Preferred Source. The walk: Starting in Beddgelert, in the heart of Eryri you can walk to the Aberglaslyn Pass, about six miles and three to four hours away. The postcode for the car park is LL55 4YG.

Beddgelert is, of course, famous for the legend of Prince Llewelyn and his hound, Gelert, of which the village is named after. The significant tourism attraction of “Gelert’s Grave” can be found here.

The pub: The Prince Llewelyn Hotel, Bar & Restaurant is often cited as “the best pub in Beddgelert”.

There are a whole host of other pubs you can wet your whistle at too, including the Tanronnen Inn, LL55 4YB. A popular and vibrant pub with an undeniable Welsh charm, set in the heart of the town just metres from “Gelert’s Grave”. The walk: This one-hour walk is perfect for any time of year with stunning views everywhere you look. It is often cited as one of the best walks in all of Wales due to the beach bar you find yourself in at the end.

The trail begins at the car park at Morfa Nefyn (LL53 6DA) and continues on around the headland towards the hamlet of Porthdinllaen.

Access via the beach is restricted during high tide.

The pub: The Ty Coch Inn , LL53 6DB, known for being one of the top ten beach bars in the world, is popular with both locals and tourists who want to break up their crisp afternoon walks with a drink and a bite to eat.

The walk: Starting in Llangollen, this 6-mile walk meanders through the beautiful countryside, taking you up high above the town for brilliant views across the Dee Valley.

The route follows the Llangollen Canal and the River Dee towards Berwyn, then past the Horseshoe Falls to Llantysilio Church.

Then it’s uphill to Valle Crucis Abbey and across to Castell Dinas Brân before heading back down to Llangollen .

The pub: The Corn Mill, Dee Ln, LL20 8PN. This 18th-century waterside pub restaurant has a water wheel and a deck overlooking the white waters of the River Dee meaning you can sit outside after a long day of walking and watch kayakers shoot the rapids or watch the steam train chuff into the station across the river.

There are several climbs and descents throughout and the route follows a mixture of stone tracks and grass field and woodland paths and takes around two and a half hours to complete.

The pub: Glasfryn, Raikes Ln, Mold , CH7 6LR. This is an arts and crafts pub which attracts plenty of locals and visitors and has stunning views from its sunny terrace, including most of Mold.

Known for its spacious interior and excellent food, you’ll find yourself well catered for here.

The walk: This is a 7-mile loop trail located near Holyhead, Anglesey , with stunning coastal scenery and a glistening sandy beach.

It offers great views of both Holyhead and Eryri on a clear day.

The pub: Stop off at the White Eagle, Rhoscolyn, Holyhead LL65 2NJ for tasty grub and a drink or two. Dogs are also more than welcome, which is a bonus!

The walk: There is a four-mile walk to be had from Llanferres to Maeshafn and back, taking in woodland and fields.

There are also much longer walks nearby, including the 122-mile Clwydian Way footpath and the mighty 177-mile Offa’s Dyke path, if you’re attempting these however, we cannot promise you’ll make last orders.

The pub: The Druid Inn, Ruthin Road, CH7 5SN. It’s a cosy olde worlde pub and restaurant with rooms, set in the countryside between Mold and Ruthin. It’s also dog friendly, so that’s a bonus!

The walk: This is one of the many tracks up Yr Wyddfa – and arguably the most scenic on our list.

It’s a popular route that takes approximately 3.5 hours to walk, depending on fitness and experience.

Just off the main track, you’ll find a wild swim feature located at the series of waterfalls.

The pub: Caffi Gwynant, Bethania, Nant Gwynant, LL55 4NH. This licensed cafe at the foot of the Watkin Path serves a selection of daily specials, homemade cakes and desserts and local ales.

Set upon the mighty backdrop of Eryri, you’ll be hard pressed to find a pint with a better view.
