PETALING JAYA: Parti Amanah Negara ( Amanah ) welcomes the appointment of Dr. Zulkifli Hassan, a professional, to the position following the recent cabinet reshuffle . Amanah does not share the narrow perspective of Pas , which focuses solely on the appointment of a Minister or Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department ( Religious Affairs ). Suhaizan Kaiat, Amanah ‘s Human Resources Director, stated that the role of any party leader is not limited to a single ministry.
“It is not necessary for Amanah to function only by being a Minister (Religious Affairs). We can function in other ministries as well. Amanah is not as narrow-minded as Pas, which only wants to focus on the Minister (Religious Affairs) alone. Amanah leaders have already been assigned duties in the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, and the Ministry of Health, which are two major ministries, in addition to the duties of (Deputy Minister) at the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT). I think this is sufficient for now,” he told Utusan Malaysia. Yesterday, Pas Deputy President, Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man questioned Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s decision to recognize religious figures when no Amanah representatives were appointed as Minister or Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs). He said that the decision raised questions considering that Amanah claimed to have many experienced and qualified religious figures to hold the portfolio, but were not given a place. Meanwhile, Amanah Election Director, Mohd. Sany Hamzan said that the continuous criticisms from Pas were actually seen more as an attempt to cover up the internal divisions that are becoming more apparent within Perikatan Nasional (PN), including the conflicting stances among its component parties. He said that this situation clearly shows that they are running out of issues to attack the Unity Government, which is now functioning collectively and stably. “For example, in Sabah recently, PN Chairman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin stated that Karambunai State Assemblyman (ADUN), Datuk Dr. Aliakbar Gulasan from Pas, would not be with the Sabah State Government because he did not support the leadership of the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. However, the next day, Pas issued a statement that contradicted that stance. “This situation clearly shows the divisions and disagreements that are increasingly apparent within PN. In fact, they are running out of issues to attack the Madani Government, and are trying to divert attention by playing other issues,” he said. The Hulu Langat Member of Parliament said that Amanah does not feel threatened by the diversity of backgrounds in the Cabinet, including the appointment of professional figures and non-politicians. He explained that the appointment is the prerogative of the Prime Minister and reflects the Unity Government’s approach of combining politicians and experts in one team to strengthen governance, economy and overall national development. “The appointment of the Minister (Religious Affairs) is to ensure the continuity of administration and existing agendas, especially after Dr. Zulkifli Hasan previously served as Deputy Minister,” he said.Amanah’s response to the recent cabinet reshuffle highlights their broader vision compared to Pas.
