Dominic Ryder, co-founder of the Alvara Protocol, wants to target the tokenized fund and asset management market and the new token standard they have built will help them realize the goal.
Ryder recently appeared on “The Wolf of All Streets” podcast where he talked with the host Scott Melker about the firm’s plan to become the Fidelity of the tokenized assets market.
Ryder said that 90%-95% of venture capital and private equity investments fail, whether it’s in a crypto or a normal startup. However, what’s unique and unfortunate to crypto is that you can have a very good product but nobody cares about it simply because of the lack of the right marketing, he added.
There are VC investors who still believe in the concepts and have liquidity and social activity but they get destroyed for no fault of their own due to these factors, he added.
A VC firm like Animoca Brands can have an “all-stars basket” consisting of The Sandbox, Mocaverse, etc. and can also have a “value basket” consisting of “underwater” investments, Ryder suggested. These investments could not be bringing in a lot of value but the VC still believes in the team and the technology, he added.
What makes a good valuation in crypto is completely “separated from reality,” he underscored. A VC firm can give people a chance to buy products that the investors believe in, he added. They can breathe a new life into projects by launching a value basket and they’re at an advantage because they are buying low and selling high, he explained.
Ryder also explored in detail the functionality of ERC-7621, a new Ethereum-based token standard created by Alvara’s developers.
ERC-7621, also known as the basket token standard (BTS), helps create multi-asset tokenized baskets on-chain. It lets developers deploy unique basket tokens that can contain an unlimited number of underlying ERC-20 tokens.

To put it simply, tokenization is the process of using blockchain technology to represent real-world assets (RWAs) like property, precious metals, funds, etc. as digital tokens.
The process of tokenization digitizes assets and makes them available for 24/7, global trading.
Ryder suggested that a VC looking to raise funds to invest in four companies can leverage the ERC-7621 standard if they can tokenize the assets. He explained that any asset like real estate, gold, silver, commodities, etc. that is liquid and tokenizable can be digitized using the ERC-7621 standard.
