Alstom has announced plans to hire around 120 new employees at its train manufacturing site in Plattsburgh, New York, as production ramps up for 374 new commuter rail cars ordered by NJ TRANSIT.
The recruitment drive reflects growing demand across North America for advanced, sustainable rolling stock. The new positions will help support Alstom’s manufacturing commitments for one of its largest regional contracts.
To attract skilled workers, Alstom will host a job fair on Thursday, 6 November, from 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at its Plattsburgh facility, located at 71 Wall Street. Candidates with experience in assembly, crane operations, welding, and industrial painting are encouraged to attend.
All roles are full-time and permanent, offering a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, 401(k) contributions, and paid time off. Applicants are invited to register in advance online, with managers conducting interviews during the event. Conditional job offers are expected to be made on the same day.

Alstom’s Plattsburgh site currently employs around 350 people and has played an integral role in the Adirondack region since 1995. The facility has produced more than 4,000 cars for the New York City subway, over 1,000 for San Francisco’s BART network, and hundreds of others for transit systems in Chicago, Maryland, and New Jersey.
The plant’s expansion highlights its continued importance to both the local economy and North America’s wider rail manufacturing sector.
