Chelsea might have beaten Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday – but Alejandro Garnacho was not a happy man. Liam Rosenior’s side triumphed at Molineux thanks to two penalties and a lovely finish into the roof of the net by Cole Palmer.
Wolves were better at the start of the second-half, with Mateus Mane hitting the woodwork before Tolu Arokodare turned in from close range following a corner. But that was as good as it got for the home side.
However, despite his side’s running out 3-1 winners in the Midlands, Garnacho, who replaced Palmer just after the hour mark, was left furious with team-mate Robert Sanchez. According to the Daily Mail, the Argentine was frustrated with Sanchez for not releasing him quickly enough as his side chased a fourth goal on the counter-attack.

The Mail is also reporting that Garnacho, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Old Trafford in a deal worth £40m in August, is struggling to fit into the side that Rosenior is trying to build. The report goes on to claim that if things don’t work out for the 21-year-old, then it is hard to see him being offered another chance in the Premier League.
Garnacho’s Manchester United exit had been on the cards ever since the winger expressed frustration at starting last season’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on the bench. Earlier that campaign, former Reds boss Ruben Amorim also felt he was not paying attention to instructions when he was about to come on late in a Europa League tie with Viktoria Plzen.
Garnacho, who joined United from Atletico Madrid in 2020, spent pre-season training away from the first team, having expressed a desire to leave. The winger has so far made 28 appearances in all competitions, scoring two times and claiming three assists.
And opening up on his move to the capital back in October, Garnacho revealed how former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca played a big role in convincing him to move to the club. He said: “Obviously, in my last season at United, with the new manager, there were a lot of changes in the situation at the club and it was a bit difficult.
“I still played a lot of games last season, mainly from the start or sometimes from the bench. But when I spoke with this club, with the manager, it’s important also the style of play we have now.
“He explained a lot to me in a video call with him, so I think it was a very important move for me and an opportunity to improve as a player in a team like Chelsea.”
