Afghan Voice Agency (AVA) – International Service: Sheikh “Ghazal Ghazal” released a video message on Saturday (Dec 27) saying that the events in the country after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government and Al-Jolani’s rise to power are not an ordinary event or simple chaos.
Stating that the ruling group in Syria has committed all the crimes against the country’s Alawites, he added: “They kill us in our places of worship, they kill us in our homes, and they assassinate us in our places of business; “For the crime of trying to provide a bite of bread for our children.”
A year into the government’s rule, evidence and documents point to overcrowded detention centers and widespread torture, detention, and abduction.
Reuters has documented at least 829 security detentions since the change of power, based on interviews and prisoner lists, but it says the real number is much higher, as many arrests are made without official registration and people disappear.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights, which has been providing monthly reports since 2011, has documented at least 16 deaths in custody under the new government in 2025.
The organization says arbitrary detentions continue and there is an urgent need for legal provisions to prevent enforced disappearances.
Sheikh Ghazal continued by criticizing the arbitrary imprisonment of Alawite men and the abduction of women of this sect by the Golani forces, reminding them: What is happening is not simply a conflict between the conflicting parties, but a clear example of Nazism.
He considered identity to be the main factor in the killing of Alawites by the Golani mercenaries and stated: The goal is to break our will and force us to surrender; this is a dirty policy.
The Syrian Alawite leader believes that without radical, real and immediate solutions, along with international support, only destruction and annihilation will spread in Syria.
