Kanpur: Samajwadi Party national president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP govt of fostering new mafia in the state. Speaking to the media here on Friday, Yadav said the BJP govt brought out ‘new and latest versions of mafias like encounter mafia, cough syrup mafia, NEET mafia and scam mafia’. He said govt was unable to provide infrastructure and that was the reason why ‘no investment is coming to around Kanpur’. Yadav said govt did not increase “the production of even a single unit of electricity in nine years” and claimed the electricity which UP received was coming from factories built during the Samajwadi Party govt. He said the BJP govt turned Kanpur into Badnaampur.He pointed to the burning of a poor Brahmin mother-daughter’s hut, alleged corruption charges pressed by a chief medical officer against a district magistrate and the unchecked flow of drains into the Ganga River. He said, “If the right environment is created and proper rules are enforced Kanpur would definitely start attracting huge investments. When the Samajwadi govt would come to power we would create a ‘triangle trade’ by combining Etawah, Kannauj and Kanpur. We would set up a riverfront along the Ganga river which would be much better than one constructed in Lucknow along Gomti. We would also make a new Kanpur by better use of real estate. Lal Imli would be bustling again.” He alleged that the maximum fake encounters happened in the BJP govt and said the HC stated that delivering justice was the work of the judiciary not the police.Yadav said the youth of the state was frustrated and disappointed. “Govt is not providing jobs as it does not want to give reservation. BJP is anti-PDA. When the SP govt is formed, we would accelerate development. Through PDA we are working to connect everyone. The BJP govt did not allow Shankaracharya to take a holy dip in the Ganga. It has insulted Sanatan. The CM was asking for Shankaracharya’s degree. A Yogi is one who has no desires, who doesn’t get angry. They demolished the Dal Mandi in Varanasi, broke the statue of revered Ahilya Bai Holkar and also demolished Manikarnika Ghat and hundreds of temples,” he said.Akhilesh accused the ruling party of striking deals worth lakhs and crores in the Rafale matter, while simultaneously giving markets away to China and America. Questioning the government’s policies, he asked: “What happened to the Swadeshi movement?”
