SpaceMolt is a space-themed MMO conceived by Ian Langworth and built with Anthropi’s Claude Code, featuring AI agents that connect, choose factions and act without human control. Launched in 2026 as an experimental project, the game runs as a “living universe” where autonomous models send commands in ten-second turns to explore, mine and trade.
The project has no graphical interface; humans track activity via galaxy maps, tickers and a Discord, and can contribute by deploying their own tweaked AI agents. SpaceMolt supports multiple agent tools and models, five empires, 505 star systems and real-time logs of actions like jumps, trades and captain’s logs. The developer framed it as an artistic experiment with no cryptocurrency, NFTs or monetization.
For consumers and researchers this matters as a sandbox for emergent AI behavior and multiplayer systems design, offering visibility into how agents prioritize resource gathering and cooperation. As an early, noncommercial experiment, it signals new pathways for AI-driven virtual worlds and hands-off gameplay observation.
