Production team addresses ‘business fever’ criticism, states profits will support those in need
[OSEN=Yeon Hwi-seon Reporter] The production team of former footballer Ahn Jung-hwan’s YouTube channel clarified that their pizza restaurant startup content was intended for “donation purposes” amid criticism.
The production team of Ahn’s YouTube channel ‘Ahn Jung-hwan 19’ posted an explanatory statement on the 3rd in the channel’s official community board, saying, “We are informing you of a correction regarding a misunderstanding in the previous video.”
The team explained, “Contrary to many people’s concerns, ‘Record Pizza’ is a startup content project where the owners, who are preparing their own franchise, will jointly operate the store with ‘Ahn Jung-hwan 19’ to donate a portion of the profits to those in need.”
They added, “As a brand that collaborates with us, we hope you will view this positively and visit the store. We will return soon with news about the donation.”
The ‘Ahn Jung-hwan 19’ team uploaded a video titled, “Where should we open the store? Please give your opinion to a serious Ahn Jung-hwan today!” on the 26th of last month. This followed a previous video titled, “Can Ahn Jung-hwan start a business?” featuring Ahn and Kim Nam-il, which included actual market analysis.
In the video, Ahn examined a 25 pyeong store near Yongsan Station in Seoul, priced at 200 million Korean won for the key money deposit and 8 million Korean won monthly rent. Another candidate location was a 23-24 pyeong store in Yeouido, Seoul, with a key money deposit of 6 million Korean won and monthly rent of 15 million Korean won. Ahn encouraged subscribers to vote between Yongsan and Yeouido, and the poll was conducted.
However, contrary to expectations, critical comments flooded in, such as, “Don’t do it, brother,” “No solution to the business fever,” “Please don’t do it,” “What does Ahn Jung-hwan have to do with pizza?” and “Please listen to the opposing voices.” In response, the ‘Ahn Jung-hwan 19’ production team directly clarified that the startup content was for donation purposes, seemingly aiming to quell the criticism.
The following is the full explanatory statement from the ‘Ahn Jung-hwan 19’ team:
