The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) has officially opened applications for media accreditation ahead of the 9th edition of the prestigious continental music awards, scheduled to take place from January 7 to 11, 2026, in Lagos, Nigeria.

In a statement issued by the organisers, AFRIMA invited qualified local and international media professionals to apply for official accreditation to cover key events lined up for the five-day celebration of African music and creative excellence.

The organisers noted that accredited media organisations and professionals will be granted access to approved AFRIMA events, press briefings, interviews, and designated media zones, subject to final approval.

According to AFRIMA, several high-profile events have been listed for media coverage during the awards week. These include the Africa Music Business Summit, slated for Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

The summit is expected to bring together industry leaders, policymakers, artistes, and stakeholders to discuss trends, opportunities, and the future of Africa’s music business.

Also open for coverage is the 9th AFRIMA Music Village, scheduled for Friday, January 9, 2026, at Ikeja City Mall, Alausa, Lagos. The Music Village is designed as a fan-engagement and cultural showcase platform featuring live performances, exhibitions, and interactions between artistes and audiences.

The highlight of the week, the 9th AFRIMA Main Awards Ceremony, will hold on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotels & Suites, Lagos, where top African and diaspora artistes will be honoured for excellence across various categories.

AFRIMA disclosed that accreditation is open to a wide range of media practitioners, including print, broadcast, and digital media organisations; television and radio stations; newspapers and magazines; online media platforms and blogs; as well as photographers, videographers, and freelance journalists with valid assignment letters.

For local media applicants, the requirements include a completed online registration form, a valid press identification card, and full details of the media organisation or platform.

International media applicants are required to submit a completed online registration form, a valid international passport, and a valid press ID.

The organisers stressed that international applicants will be solely responsible for securing their visas, travel arrangements, accommodation, and insurance.

AFRIMA further cautioned that media accreditation is strictly subject to approval, media badges are non-transferable, and incomplete or late applications may not be considered. The awards body also reserves the right to approve or decline any application at its discretion.

Interested media professionals are advised to complete the online media registration form and upload all required documents before the stipulated deadline. Successful applicants will be notified via email.

Applications can be submitted through the official AFRIMA portal at: https://afrima.org/9th-afrima-awards-media-registration/

AFRIMA expressed optimism about partnering with the media to project Africa’s music, culture, and creative excellence to a global audience during the 2026 awards ceremony.
