The American Film Market (AFM) 2025 opened a full day of programming on November 12th at the Fairmont Century Plaza with a dynamic series of sessions focused on Finance, Distribution, and Location Incentives. Three standout panels brought together leading executives, producers, and innovators who explored evolving trends shaping the global entertainment industry.
The morning began with “Finance I – From Packaging to Payback: Investment, Incentives & International Markets” (9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.), a discussion that examined the complete lifecycle of film financing — from early development packaging to post-release payback strategies. Panelists included Jeaneane Davey, Founder of Callisto Advisory, Inc.; Sam Pressman, CEO of Pressman Film; Josh Rosenbaum, Partner and Producer at Waypoint Entertainment; and Jeremy Ross, Head of Films at Rabbits Black. Moderated by Jeff Caruso, SVP of Sales & Success at Wrapbook, the session emphasized how financial transparency, international co-productions, and strategic partnerships are redefining film investment models in today’s competitive market.
Following that, “The Innovators – From Fan to Financier: New Models in Film Financing and Distribution” (11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) explored the ways technology and audience engagement are revolutionizing the entertainment landscape. Panelists Marc Iserlis (Head of Film, Republic Film), Willie Morris (Co-Founder, Watrfall), and Christopher Woodrow (Founder and Chairman, MCT) shared insights into decentralized financing, blockchain-backed transparency, and fan-driven film investment platforms. Moderated by Carolyn Giardina, a leading technology reporter, the discussion highlighted how data-driven distribution and fan equity are becoming essential tools for independent and major studios alike.
Running concurrently, “Focus on Italy: A Strategic Hub for International Productions” (11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) showcased Italy’s growing prominence as a global production destination. Panelists Jacopo Chessa, President of the Italian Film Commissions and Director of the Veneto Film Commission; Gary Lucchesi, Producer at Revelations Entertainment and former President of the Producers Guild of America; Riccardo Neri, Producer and Head of Communications at APE (Association of Italian Production Service Companies); and Francesca Rotondo, Sales and Business Development Manager at Cinecittà Studios, discussed how Italy’s tax incentives, cutting-edge studio facilities, and regional support systems attract high-profile international projects. The session was moderated by Roberto Stabile, Head of the International Department at Cinecittà/DGCA, who underscored Italy’s commitment to fostering collaboration and cultural exchange through film.
