The Alliance For Change (AFC) yesterday unveiled its full election manifesto, outlining an ambitious 100-day plan which it says will bring “immediate relief” to Guyanese if the party secures office after the September 1 polls.
The launch, which comes after weeks of press releases on policies, follows the manifestos already published by the main contenders contesting the elections. The AFC, which has so far struggled to gain significant following on the campaign trail, is banking on its “Better Must Come” platform to win over undecided voters in the final stretch.
At the centre of its proposals is a slate of financial and social benefits aimed at easing the cost of living. The party has promised an 18 percent retroactive salary increase for public servants and members of the Disciplined Services, a $100,000 cash grant for every adult citizen, and $75,000 per schoolchild each term. It has also pledged free school transportation, uniforms, and meals.
