Election Commission has allotted ‘whistle’ election symbol to actor Vijay’s TVK
New Delhi:
Actor Vijay’s TVK is all set to contest the Tamil Nadu election with a brand new party symbol.
The Election Commission has allotted to the actor’s political party a ‘whistle’ election symbol, well in time for the assembly election in the southern state ruled by Chief Minister MK Stalin’s DMK.
Vijay preferred the ‘whistle’ symbol from 10 designs shown to him, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader CTR Nirmal Kumar said. Some of the other symbols included an autorickshaw and a cricket bat.
“The overall expectations and the desire of the people of Tamil Nadu is that our leader should become chief minister. As a first step, this symbol has been given,” he told reporters.
Incidentally, one of Vijay’s hit songs is called “Whistle Podu,” (Play the Whistle) from his 2024 film ‘GOAT’. The film even had references to his then planned political foray.
Vijay has been fine-tuning his electoral strategy despite facing serious issues such as the controversy surrounding his film ‘Jananayagan’ to questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He has repeatedly said the TVK will not align with either the ruling DMK or the BJP in the assembly election.
This firm stand has significantly altered the political arithmetic in the state, strengthening the likelihood of a four-cornered contest involving the DMK-led alliance, the AIADMK-BJP combine, the Naam Tamilar Katchi, and Vijay’s TVK.
