A quiet suburban morning turned into terrifying chaos for a Queensland neighbourhood when a truck lost control and careened down a steep hill wiping out several cars in its path.
Sunshine Coast resident Caroline Terry Hutchinson captured the destruction after hearing an “enormous noise, like a train crash.”
“It was a truck careening backwards down our very steep hill laden with Besser bricks,” she said.
“His brakes must have failed or something, and he went over the side of our embankment, absolutely terrifying.
“Just absolute carnage.”
Footage revealed several cars were damaged in the incident and a truckload of Besser block spilt onto the road.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said the incident unfolded on Tantula Rd and Woyin St at Alexandra Headland before 7am on Thursday.
The spokesman said a truck reportedly lost control and went downhill and hitting multiple cars along the way.
“No one was inside the other vehicles and the truck driver was not injured,” a spokesman said.
Ms Terry Hutchinson counted nine cars and a caravan that were hit during the incident.
A neighbour was trapped in her driveway when she moved out the way for emergency service vehicles.
“The good news is, despite that terrible accident, the driver’s okay,” she said.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said paramedics treated the driver for minor injuries at the scene.
