Abronye’s insult directed at president, IGP must not be defended – NPP communications member

A communications member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Benjamin Asare, has stated that the actions of the Bono Regional Chairman of the party, Kwame Baffoe popularly known as Abronye DC, should not be defended.

Speaking on Neat FM on September 8, 2025, Asare stated that resorting to insults to make a point should not be tolerated, adding that such actions are condemnable.

NPP lawyer details reason behind Abronye’s arrest

Asare stated that Abronye’s arrest was as a result of insulting certain high-profile government officials.

He consequently urged the New Patriotic Party not to protest his arrest but allow him to pay for his actions.

“Considering what Abronye said, it is very important for all communicators of a political party to learn not to resort to insults to make a case. If you do that, when confronted with a contrary view, it means you don’t believe in your own views.

“In all aspects, it is not right to insult people regardless of their age; to the extent that you insult the first gentleman of the land. It is not right and shouldn’t be tolerated or defended,” he said.

“… I’m an NPP person and a communicator, and with what Abronye did, we don’t have to defend it or protest his arrest. His arrest is the consequence of his actions and insults,” Asare added.

The party communicator, however, expressed his displeasure over the lack of condemnation for past incidents in which others insulted government officials.

Police provide reason for Abronye’s arrest

“Where was the energy to condemn past incidents of people in opposition insulting government officials and high-profile individuals? Did we get officials of the NDC to openly condemn the actions? We tolerated all these incidents but it doesn’t mean we should condone similar incidents now,” he stated.
