Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing infrastructure development as a key catalyst for industrialization and inclusive growth across the state.

Speaking at a town hall meeting and participatory forum on the preparation of the 2026-2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the 2026 budget, held at the Bisi Rodipe Event Centre, Ijebu-Ode, the governor said his government would sustain massive investments in infrastructure to enhance economic productivity and social welfare.

Governor Abiodun, represented by the Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, stressed the importance of citizens’ participation in shaping government policies that reflect the people’s needs and aspirations.

Highlighting achievements under his administration’s ISEYA Development Agenda, he noted that over 1,000 kilometres of roads have been constructed or rehabilitated since 2019, improving trade, access to markets, education, and healthcare across all three senatorial districts.

Some completed projects in the Ijebu axis include the rehabilitation of Ikofa-Abapawa Road in Odogbolu, reconstruction of Igbeba Road/Talbort Yidi Lane and Awokoya Road in Ijebu-Ode, and construction of Odolewu-Lasesi-Isiwo Road in Odogbolu. Others are the parapet walls for Erinwa Bridge, dredging of Erinwa River, and renovation of the Ijebu-Ode-Epe Toll Gate.

Ongoing projects, according to him, include the reconstruction of Imoru Road, Stadium Junction-Luba Road, Oshinubi (formerly Araromi) Road, Tam Balogun Road, Iworo-Ogbogbo-Igbeba Road, and Obalende-Abeokuta Road, among others.

Governor Abiodun also announced the commencement of commercial operations at the Gateway International Airport and revealed plans to establish the Ijebu-Ode Inland Dry Port to strengthen transportation networks and boost economic activities.

“In the health sector, our administration has embarked on hospital renovations, installation of solar power systems, and deployment of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) to enhance efficiency and service delivery,” he said.

On education, the governor highlighted ongoing rehabilitation of science laboratories and technical colleges, introduction of digital learning under the Progressive Science and Mathematics Initiatives (PSI/PMI), and distribution of learning devices to teachers to improve instructional outcomes.

He also noted strides in youth empowerment and sports, citing the successful hosting of the Gateway Games and African Athletics Championships, which he said boosted tourism, created jobs, and positioned Ogun State as a hub for sporting excellence.

In the agriculture sector, Abiodun said efforts to strengthen food security are ongoing through the revitalization of farm settlements, upgrade of processing facilities, and establishment of a Women Development Centre in Ijebu-Ode to promote skills acquisition and entrepreneurship.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, described the forum as a vital tool for participatory governance, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness.

Traditional rulers, including the Orimolusi of Ijebu-Igbo, HRH Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo, and the Daburewe of Idowa, Oba Adefuwape Okuribido, commended Governor Abiodun’s achievements, especially in road infrastructure and aviation development. They also lauded the state’s skills acquisition programmes for empowering youths and improving livelihoods across Ogun State.
