The BBC’s new show The Guest has been gripping viewers since it premiered earlier this week.
The “twisty-turny edge of your seat thriller” follows a successful business owner called Fran (Eve Myles) who employs a woman called Ria (Gabrielle Creevy).
They form an intense friendship after Fran encourages Ria to take control of her life, though after a shocking event, the pair “become intertwined by shared secrets and dangerous plots” as a “compelling and manipulative game of cat-and-mouse” ensues.
Like The Guest, The Replacement follows the increasingly entangled lives of two women – Ellen (Morven Christie), who has gone on maternity leave, and Paula (McClure), who she has hired to cover her job.
However, Ellen begins to fear she has made a bad mistake when Paula begins to take over her clients, bosses and friends, before an accident pushes Ellen’s suspicions to the max.
The White Lotus’ Meghann Fahy, House of the Dragon’s Milly Alcock and Oscar-winner Julianne Moore star in this gripping five-part Netflix dark comedy.
Released back in May, Sirens follows Devon (Fahy) – a whipsmart but troubled woman who is concerned about her younger sister Simone’s (Alcock) relationship with her enigmatic billionaire boss Michaela (Moore).
Devon tries desperately to bring her home, but gets increasingly caught up in Michaela’s manipulative world in Port Haven.
Another thrilling hit from this year, The Stolen Girl is based on the novel Playdate by Alex Dahl, and follows a mother called Elisa who allows her daughter Lucia to go on a playdate with a classmate.
However, what follows is “every parent’s worst nightmare” as Elisa goes to pick Lucia up only to learn the place is a holiday rental and her child is now missing.
This leads to a manhunt across Europe, though Elisa’s “perfect family begins to unravel under the pressure, and long-buried secrets come to light”.
