A spokesperson for SP Energy Networks apologised for the inconvenience and thanked people for their patience

A number of postcodes in the L9 area of Liverpool are currently experiencing a power outage. SP Energy Networks, which provides the service in the area, confirmed on Sunday morning “an unexpected power cut” was affecting at least 24 postcodes around the Walton and Rice Lane area.

The energy company said: “There is an unexpected power cut affecting the L9 postcode area of Liverpool. We have managed to restore the power to most properties however engineers are now investigating a second fault.”

SP Energy Networks said its engineers aim to restore all remaining supplies by around 1.18pm today.

A spokesperson added: “We are sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”

These are the postcodes currently affected by the power cut:

L9, L91BU, L91BY, L91BZ, L91DA, L91DJ, L91DP, L92AD, L92AE, L92AF, L92AG, L92AL, L92AN, L92AP, L92AR, L92AT, L92AU, L92AW, L92AX, L92BA, L92BB, L92BD, L92DJ, L92DT

The ECHO understands a different power cut around the Walton Park cemetery area, which affected over 150 different postcodes, was resolved earlier this morning by engineers.

The ECHO also reported on another extensive power outage in the Tuebrook area of the city on Saturday evening.

Over 20 postcodes were left without power for over an hour while SP Energy Networks’ engineers fixed the problem.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene and disruptions affected the traffic lights on the Belmont Road junction. The power issue was resolved by around 7.30pm.
