
‘Nari Mandapam’ to Be Established in Gurugram, 1,000 Anganwadi Centres to Be Upgraded
Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, while presenting the Budget for the Financial Year 2026-27 as Finance Minister, announced an increase in the allocation for the Women and Child Development Department from the revised estimate of ₹1,969.65 crore in 2025-26 to ₹2,263.29 crore in 2026-27, marking a rise of 14.91%.
The Chief Minister stated that considering “Nari Samman, Nari Suraksha and Nari Swavlamban” as the core foundation of government policies, the state is fully committed to the holistic empowerment of women. He highlighted that due to sustained efforts under the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao programme launched in 2015, the sex ratio at birth has improved from 868 to 923.
Sh. Nayab Singh Saini announced that a ‘Nari Mandapam’ will be established in Gurugram to promote women’s empowerment, skill development, training, capacity building, and to recognize their achievements. To streamline service delivery related to women and children, Integrated Single Window Platforms in the form of ‘Vatsalya Bhawans’ will be set up in Ambala, Yamunanagar, Rohtak, and Gurugram.
To enhance women’s participation in the workforce, a Workplace Safety Fund of ₹5 crore will be created. In addition, a POSH Cell and a Vishakha Portal will be established. To promote safe, dignified, and empowered workplaces for women, a ‘Mahila-Samarth Sansthan Award’ scheme will be launched, under which government and private institutions will be evaluated based on a women-friendly rating framework.
The Chief Minister further announced that 1,000 Anganwadi centres will be upgraded as ‘Saksham Anganwadi’ centres. He stated that approximately 3,800 Anganwadi centres in rural areas and around 2,000 in urban areas are currently operating from rented buildings, and all of them will be shifted to government buildings.
