13th Meeting between government & private sector held in Al-Hodeidah

The 13th meeting between the government and the private sector was held on Tuesday in Al-Hodeidah Governorate, attended by Minister of Finance Abdeljabbar Ahmed, Acting Minister of Economy, Industry, Investment Sam Al-Bashiri, and Governor of Al-Hodeidah Abdullah Atifi.

The meeting, attended by Chairman of the General Investment Authority Mohammed Ishaq, Executive Director of the Standards, Metrology, and Quality Control Authority Abdullah Al-Atifi, and Vice President of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Mohammed Salah, was dedicated to strengthening and developing partnership with the private sector in the governorate, in line with the directives of the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyid Abdulmalik Badreddin Al-Houthi.

The meeting reviewed the matrix presented by the private sector, which included the main problems, difficulties, and challenges facing various sector activities in the governorate.

It was decided to refer the matrix to the relevant authorities for urgent handling, in coordination and consultation with the private sector.

During the meeting, the Minister of Finance emphasized that holding weekly meetings in the governorates aims to closely identify the problems , needs of the private sector and to listen directly to traders and businesspeople.

He noted that the integration between the government and private sectors comes within an institutional framework that will contribute to achieving economic and industrial success comparable to what has been achieved in the military field.

Minister Abdeljabbar explained that the joint decision did not come randomly or by coincidence, but was the result of studies conducted over nearly a year, benefiting from the best experiences and practices in this field, stressing that reducing the import bill and supporting local industries form the core of the joint decision.

He considered supporting local products as the first step toward achieving sustainable development, pointing out the promising investment opportunities in Al-Hodeidah, particularly in agriculture.

He also confirmed that agriculture and industry are interlinked, and that successful agricultural investment cannot occur without the development and prosperity of the industrial sector.

The Minister praised the performance of the governorate leadership, local authorities, and executive offices, describing them as a model in supporting the private sector and engaging with its issues, noting the importance of the presence of executive office directors to directly follow up on the implementation of the meeting’s outcomes.

For his part, Acting Minister of Economy, Industry, and Investment Sam Al-Bashiri said that holding the 13th meeting in Al-Hodeidah with great momentum reflects the level of private sector interaction and confidence in the government’s keenness to address issues, which strengthens constructive partnership.

He explained that Al-Hodeidah holds great importance for the national economy, as it represents the “lung” of the national economy, highlighting that the governorate provides a successful model for localizing industries, implementing economic empowerment projects, , translating government plans and programs into reality.

Al-Bashiri affirmed that the meeting aims to enhance areas of success, address all issues facing the private sector, and develop mechanisms to implement the outcomes of this and previous meetings, enabling the private sector to see positive results that contribute to developing and expanding its activities and businesses.

He pointed out that, thanks to the Investment Law and government policies, the private sector now enjoys unprecedented privileges, exemptions, facilitation measures, and guarantees. He also noted that the one-stop service center for investors in Al-Hodeidah will be inaugurated following its launch in the capital.

The meeting, attended by Undersecretary of the Public Resources Development and Economic Units Oversight Sector at the Ministry of Finance Dr. Yahya Al-Saqqaf, Undersecretary of the Revenue Sector Mohammed Muthanna, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy for the Industry and Economic Cities Sector Engineer Sami Maqbuli, First Undersecretary of Al-Hodeidah Governorate Ahmed Al-Bashri, several governorate deputies, witnessed the governor praising the weekly meetings with the private sector and their role in promoting development efforts.

He confirmed the commitment to support the private sector, which played a key role in sustaining the economic front during the years of war and the ongoing blockade.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Office of Economy, Industry, and Investment in Al-Hodeidah Governorate, Saleh Atifa, called for supporting and sponsoring the path of localizing industries in the governorate, appreciating the cooperation and responsiveness of local factories to make this experience successful.
