2026 is starting with a bang for Stephen King fans, thanks to a boatload of treats arriving on streaming services. Among these is the reputable author’s ambitious sci-fi thriller, 11.22.63, executive produced by the prominent J.J. Abrams, known for his work on Lost and Star Wars. Led by James Franco in one of his most acclaimed TV roles, the compelling miniseries aired on Hulu from February 15 to April 4, 2016, but left the streamer over a year ago. Now, 10 years after its debut, another platform is adding all eight episodes for at least a year.
Reports confirm that 11.22.63 is scheduled to land on Netflix in the U.S. on January 7, 2026. Since the series is distributed by Warner Bros. Television, it is part of the extensive licensing deal currently populating the streamer’s library. This comes a little over a year after it became available to stream for free on Tubi. The sci-fi show is an adaptation of King’s best-selling 2011 novel, which is the 60th book published by the author, his 49th novel, and the 42nd under his own name.
The thriller’s mind-bending plot centers on a time traveler who attempts to prevent the assassination of United States President John F. Kennedy, which occurred on the titular date, November 22, 1963. Jake Epping, an ordinary high school English teacher from Lisbon, Maine, is presented with an unthinkable opportunity by his dying friend: a time portal in a local diner closet that leads directly to October 1960. Jake is given a singular, monumental mission: live in the past for three years and prevent the president’s assassination, a mission his friend has been trying in vain to complete.
