ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A barrage of gunfire hit a southwest Atlanta Airbnb on Saturday morning, shattering windows and sending a man to the hospital.
Atlanta police were called to the property on 1645 Evans Drive SW at around 4:10 a.m. Raigan Bullard, who was staying in one of the building’s three apartment units with her husband, said the shots from the nearby intersection startled them awake.
The bullets struck the building and a truck parked in the front, deflating a tire and punching holes into the truckbed.
Bullard said a man in the residence next to hers was shot, but he’s expected to recover. Now, she’d like nothing more than to return home to coastal Georgia.
“You’re stuck at the crime scene. You have nowhere to go,” she said. “You can go inside a shot-up house, or you can sit in a truck with three tires.”
Police investigators have marked at least 35 bullet casings at the scene. Officers have not commented on the circumstances of the shooting.
